Case Study

Mold with 4 slides operated by hydraulic pistons

The mold featured four slides driven by hydraulic pistons, needed to manage a specific sequence outside of mold opening. In the food sector, recurring oil leakage on the rods was unacceptable.

Solution

We replaced the hydraulic cylinders with electric actuators, controlled by a single 4-channel GiMotor control unit. The software was configured to execute the correct sequence, with maximum speed control and slowdown at position.

Unscrewing mold with racks and long actuation stroke

The existing hydraulic piston did not allow proper modulation of force and unscrewing speed, causing excessive actuation times and potential risks to the mechanism.

Solution

We replaced the hydraulic piston with an electric actuator controlled by the GiMotor Light unit. The software was configured to ensure a slow start followed by acceleration to maximum speed for the rest of the stroke.
